Law Dogs plan toy run for 'Littlest Angels'

Gainesville — Since 2003, the Law Dogs Motorcycle Club has been a partner of the Cooke County Littlest Angels Program. Their main contribution is the annual toy run locally organized every year — and scheduled this year for Saturday, Nov. 3, at Gainesville Outlet Shops.

This bike run is open to drivers of all varieties, including cars, trucks or bicycles. The Littlest Angel Program was founded in 1981, to help families who could not afford Christmas gifts for their children.

The vehicle run helps raise money through sponsorships from local businesses, and then from entry fees from the toy run itself. The Law Dogs club has been an instrumental part of the success with the run.

And because of the hard work and dedication of members in this group and the many other volunteers within the community, more and more children have had the chance to experience Christmas than in previous years.

The event in 2011 gave organizers a chance to to help every qualifying family that made requests to receive items.

This year, toy run registration begins in the outlet mall food court between 10 and 11:45 a.m. The first 100 participants are guaranteed a toy run T-shirt. And this year, organizers are conducting a “Marble Run.” Throughout Cooke County, the 80-plus mile path of the toy run will include five stops where participants draw for a colored marble, and each color is worth a certain number of points. At the end of the ride, the person who has gathered the highest number of points wins and cash prizes will go to the first place winner while trophies go to the second and third place winners.

Following the toy run is “Bike Games,” which includes activities such as “Slow Roll” and “Ball Drop,” plus more.

As with the Marble Run, cash prizes and trophies are available for the top three winners.

Entry fee for the toy run is $15 per rider or $25 per couple.

As during past years, a new and unwrapped toy also serves as admission into the toy run. Participation in “Bike Games” is $5 per person.
