GHS marching band gets first division rating

— The Gainesville High School Marching Band earned a first division rating at C.H. Collins Stadium during Saturday's UIL Region 2 Marching Contest.  This is the highest possible rating, also referred to as “sweepstakes” with a 1-1-1 score.  The band will advance to the Area Marching Contest Saturday again at C.H. Collins Stadium in Denton.  The GHS Marching Band’s show this year consists of three Led Zeppelin songs.  They are “Whole-Lotta Love,” “Immigrant Song” and “Stairway to Heaven.”  GHS Band Director Taylor Kami said he tried to instill certain values in his students. Their success, he noted, comes from humility, hard work, and dedication. “The kids believe it and live it,” Kami said.
