Valley View rancher breeds world champion

Cooke County —

The American Quarter Horse Journal, Houston – The 2006 black American Quarter Horse stallion Lil Ruf Catalyst earned the world championship title in open Versatility Ranch Horse in early March at the American Quarter Horse Association Pfizer Versatility Ranch Horse World Championship Show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Houston. Lil Ruf Catalyst was bred by Werner Hermus of Valley View.

Lil Ruf Catalyst was shown by Mozaun McKibben of Whitesboro.

Lil Ruf Catalyst, sired by Lil Ruf Peppy, and out of Foxy Catalyst, is owned by M. McKibben and H. Zimmerman of Whitesboro.

In open Versatility Ranch Horse, 11 entries competed for world champion honors.

The world champion received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold trophy, courtesy of the Pfizer Versatility World and AQHA Cowboy Mounted Shooting World; sterling-silver buckle with 14-karat-gold-overlay, courtesy of Montana Silversmiths; specially designed logoed jacket and world champion patch, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear; neck wreath; Justin Boot certificate; and a medallion box.  

The Pfizer Versatility Ranch Horse World Championship Show is an event for American Quarter Horse owners and exhibitors from around the world, who must qualify for Versatility Ranch Horse by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes: ranch riding, ranch trail, ranch cutting, working ranch horse and ranch horse conformation.

The Pfizer Versatility World was held in conjunction with the AQHA Cowboy Mounted Shooting World Championship Show, February 28 - March 2, at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The 112 entries at this year’s event represented competitors from 22 of the United States, as well as Argentina and Germany.
