Health expo returns to Gainesville Civic Center

Gainesville — The second annual Cooke County “Healthy, Happy and Whole Expo” is set for 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Gainesville Civic Center, 311 S. Weaver St. in Gainesville.

It is free and open to the public.

“We are so excited to be able to bring this free event back to the community after the success of last year,” said Jessica DeMent, expo chairperson. “We are able to do this through the generous support of our many, many sponsors.  This year our three platinum sponsors are ArmourGuard Storm Shelters & Safe Rooms, Select Energy Services and the Gainesville Daily Register.”

Once again, this year's expo will be host to four speakers and numerous free screenings.  Also offered for a fee will be flu, pneumonia, and tetanus vaccinations . In addition, there will be private mastectomy bra and camisole fittings.

And aside from health-related vendors, there will be other vendors providing information and selling their local products.  Carter Bloodmobile will also be on site for a blood drive.

DeMent added that a free lunch will be provided by one of the expo’s platinum sponsors, Select Energy Services, from 11:30 to 1 p.m. “Everyone raved about their delicious food last year so we are thrilled to have them supporting our cause again this year,” she said.

For baseball fans, there will be a raffle for a baseball autographed by The Texas Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase prior to and during the expo.
