2 arrested in connection with aggravated robbery

Gainesville — Two men are in custody in connection with an aggravated robbery that occurred Sept. 2, in the parking lot of Walmart Supercenter, 1800 Lawrence St.

A Gainesville Police Department media release said warrants were issued for the arrest of Joseph Baeza, 24, of Mansfield, and Nathan Morales, 21, of Whitesboro. Baeza was taken into custody by Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 18, and Morales turned himself in to the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office. The original incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2.

The Gainesville Police Department received a report of a robbery in progress in the Walmart parking lot.

Officers arrived on scene and found a 48-year-old female being attended to by other shoppers in the parking lot. Investigation revealed the victim had just finished shopping when a white Pontiac four-door sedan pulled alongside the victim.  The passenger, who was described as a heavy set Hispanic male, 25-30 years of age, grabbed her purse and tried to back away from the white Pontiac. But in holding onto her purse, she was dragged through the parking lot.  She was treated and released at North Texas Medical Center.
