United Way blitz planned for Tuesday

Gainesville — United  Way volunteers plan to blitz Gainesville Tuesday to help the organization reach its 2013 goal.

So far fundraising efforts have been optimal.

“We are currently a little over 70 percent of this year’s campaign goal of $398,000,” Cooke County United Way executive director Angie Hare said.

United Way Pacesetters — companies that began the fundraising process during the campaign year — have provided nearly 26 percent of the goal.

In addition, the Weber employee campaign brought in more than $180,000 and money from the local aerospace company continues to arrive, Hare noted.

Tuesday’s blitz is designed to help collect remaining pledges.

“ We now need the rest of the community campaign to rise to the occasion to reach our goal and beyond,” Hare said.

Dozens of campaign volunteers will visit Gainesville businesses from 10 a.m. to noon to collect United Way pledges during Tuesday’s blitz.

Blitz headquarters will be posted at the Prosperity Bank parking lot across from the State Theater on East California Street.  The public is invited to join the group for free hotdogs between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

This year’s blitz sponsors are American Bank of Texas, First State Bank, Hometown Radio 1580 KGAF, Muenster State Bank, Nascoga Federal Credit Union, Prosperity Bank, Turtle Hill Golf & Conference Center and Zodiac Seats US LLC.  Sponsors assisting with the area blitz events being held in Gainesville Oct. 2; Muenster on Oct. 11 and Valley View on Oct. 18.

If your business would like to participate and have not been contacted by United Way, please call the offices at 665-1793.  All pledges made on the scheduled Blitz Days will have their business name mentioned on KGAF.

Cooke County United Way invites residents and businesses to join them in the community “Live United” campaign.

For information call 665-1793  or visit www.cookeuw.org or Facebook to learn about this year’s campaign events and goal information.
