Fire destroys Goodwill store

Second fire damages vacant North Weaver Street house

Gainesville — A five-alarm fire on Sunday destroyed the Goodwill store located at 2614 E. Highway 82. The fire appears to have started in the attic area of the building.

Gainesville Fire Department sent nine apparatus and 35 firefighters at approximately 6 p.m. to battle the fully involved structure fire. Firefighters kept the fire contained to the one building and cleared the scene at approximately 9 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation.

Firefighters were called to a second structure fire located at 1124 N. Weaver St. at approximately 11:55 p.m.

The 837 square foot single family residence was a three-alarm fire that appeared to have started in the living room area of vacant building and spread to the roof area.

GFD dispatched three apparatus and 10 personnel to fight the fire.

No injuries were reported and firefighters left the scene at approximately 1:20 a.m. Monday.
