Mountain Springs —
Quilters, crafters, musicians and firefighters will all come together for the 21st Annual Mountain Springs Arts, Crafts and Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, Sept. 29. The festival will be held at the Community Center and benefit Valley View and North Shore Volunteer Fire Departments.
Arts and crafts booths are set up under the oak trees and open at 8 a.m.
There is no charge for booth registration, but vendor donations for the fire departments are greatly appreciated. Proceeds from the arts and crafts sales go to the vendors.
The bluegrass music will begin at noon, with seven bands performing until 8 p.m.
Organizers said it isn’t unusual for the music to keep going until way past dark. Bands performing this year include Circle Unbroken, Texas Sky, Friends of Myrtle Hood, Mountain Springs Jammers, Band of Faith, Full Quiver, and Crossroads.
Don Sharp from Texoma Sound will provide the sound system. Admission for the Bluegrass performances is $5 per person. There is no charge for children under 12.
Lunch, dinner, and beverages will be available for purchase and will provided by the Valley View Volunteer Fire Department.
The Mountain Springs Quilting Club will host a dessert and bake sale. The North Shore Fire Department will raffle a new Marlin 30-30 rifle.
An expansive quilt show will be displayed in the old church section of the community center.
In addition, the Quilting Club will share their talent and generosity with a quilt raffle for the benefit.
This year’s contribution is called “Wildflower Rhapsody.” It is a large queen-size quilt and includes two throw pillows. Raffle tickets are available.
Cookbooks will also be available for purchase. “Feeding the Flock” contains recipes from the Mountain Springs Quilting Club.
Guests can join the fun, shopping, food, and of course the great music in the country to support the local volunteer fire departments.
