Gainesville —
Officers responded to an aggravated robbery Sunday afternoon at Walmart Supercenter.
A Gainesville Police Department media release explained that shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday, officers received a report of a robbery in progress in the parking lot of the store, 1800 Lawrence Street in Gainesville. Officers arrived on scene and found victim Cynthia Ramsey, 48, being attended by other shoppers in the parking lot.
Sunday’s investigation revealed that Ramsey had just finished shopping when a white Pontiac four-door sedan pulled alongside her. The passenger, who was described as a heavyset Hispanic male between 25 and 30 years of age, grabbed Ramsey’s purse and tried to get back into the white Pontiac. Ramsey held onto her purse, and was dragged through the parking lot.
The suspect escaped with Ramsey’s purse, and Ramsey sustained injuries. She was later treated at North Texas Medical Center and released.
The release included a request for help from the public. If you have any information concerning Sunday’s crime, contact the department at (940) 668-7777 or at Facebook.com/GTPolice. Anyone wishing to offer information and remain anonymous can call the department’s Crime Tips Hotline at (940) 612-0000.
