Gainesville —
The North Central Texas College volleyball team is carrying on a tradition by donating gate receipts from their 2012 home volleyball matches to area charities.
This year, members of the Lady Lions volleyball team presented checks to Volunteers in Service to Others (VISTO), Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter and the Cooke County Littlest Angel program.
“This is something we decided to do a few years back within the department and we are glad to be able to give something back to the community,” NCTC athletic director Van Hedrick said. “I’m sure these organizations can use this money, especially at this time of the year with the holidays coming up. I know these organizations do a lot for our community.”
Lady Lion sophomores Adrienne Pabon, Kelli Hadley and Hailee Washburn presented the checks Wednesday on behalf of their teammates.
“We are so honored to be able to contribute to the community while playing a sport that we love,” said Pabon, an outside hitter from Johnson City. “I hope that our fundraisers not only help better these charities but also help strengthen the community as a whole.”
