Gainesville —
Representatives from the Historic South Gainesville Neighborhood Association recently presented a $500 check to the Gainesville High School Student Council Activity fund as a show of appreciation for the council’s volunteer work during the 2012 Holiday Home Tour.
“We had over 20 students that signed up to greet our guests and collect tickets during the tour,” said event chairman Lynette Scruggs. “These students are great representatives of GHS and their success is to be commended.
Donna and Vance Wells proposed that HSGNA establish a scholarship this year with some of the funds raised from the tour. "Vikki Estes will be the liaison from the neighborhood association to coordinate these scholarships with the school,” Linda Williams noted. “Our goal is to establish two scholarships this year. HSGNA sees a bright future for GHS students and this is one way for us to show our support."
