Huntsville First United Methodist Church will host a free concert Sunday featuring Deux Voix, a duo of classical musicians based in Southeast Texas.

Deux Voix was formed in 2014 in Houston. The group’s name comes from the French for “two voices,” they have earned both national and international acclaim.

The duo is composed of Stephen Distad on organ and Justin Langham on trumpet.

“They have traveled the world and their music speaks for itself,” said Daniel Irving, pastor of Huntsville FUMC.

The group has performed in 17 states, in addition to many performances across Southeast Texas. Some of the notable sets the group performs include Neapolitan Dance from Swan Lake, Det syng - “The Enticement,” variations on “Lord of the Dance” introduction and Lamento Con brio Finale.

“Music is important as it is a way we connect to each other and connect to God,” Irving added. “It is our hope that this concert will be inspiring and will stir people’s love and praise of God through the gift of music.”

The concert is set for today from 6-7 p.m. in the main building sanctuary at Huntsville First United Methodist Church, located at 1016 Sam Houston Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

“We hope people from all over Huntsville and Walker County and the SHSU community will come out and that through it people will connect with God through the experience,” Irving added.
