During Monday’s regular Cooke County commissioners’ court meeting, county business included a proclamation by Judge John Roane recognizing October 6-12 as “National 4-H Week.”
Texas A&M AgriLife extension agent and Cooke County 4-H representative, Phyllis A. Griffin, said the county has shown a positive increase in participation by county youth in the 4-H program.
“There were over 260 kids in Cooke County that participated in 4-H this past year,” she said. “And we hope to have more with a new “Spin” program to attract youth and families who may not want to participate in the regular 4-H year long program.”
Several consent agenda items were also considered and approved by the Court. Consent agenda includes non-controversial and routine items that the court ma act on with one single vote.
Approval of fund dispersion to the Cooke County Library included $20 for research to Lisa Ramsay and $50 for book repair to Barbara Baar.
The court approved installation of a sign outside the Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace office in Valley View which will identify the office name, hours and days of operation.
A contract with Woodbine Water Supply Corporation for the installation of a water line on CR 173 was approved.
A contract with Pleasant Ridge Water System for the installation of a water line on CR 133 was approved.
A contract with Woodbine Water Supply Corporation for the installation of a water line on CR 223 was also approved.
A renewed contract was approved between Cooke County EMS and North Central Texas College for a one term year beginning October 2013 through September 30, 2014 was approved.
Approval for $2,802.50 in auction proceeds from the sale of Precinct 4 road and bridge equipment was considered and approved.
The contract between county clerk’s office and the Department of State Health Services for vital statistics records for a two year period beginning Sept. 1, 2013 through Aug. 31, 2015 was approved.
An annual maintenance agreement between Cooke County Sheriff’s office and Global software was approved for a one year term beginning Oct. 1, 2013 and ending Sept. 30, 2014
A contract with Pinnacle Medical Management Corporation for CDL drug testing services was terminated.
Approval was given on a contract between Cooke County EMS and Dr. Douglas Lewis, M.D. for EMS medical director.
A surplus by auction or salvage and advertisement of a 2000 Honda Accord VIN 1HGCG3253YA022391was approved.
The Court received files for record the FY2013 Audit engagement letter for the juvenile probation department as well as the adult probation department.
Proceeds from the sale of Precinct 1 road and bridge equipment in the amount of $3007.70 was approved and accepted.
Non-agenda items included the 4-H proclamation as well approval on the following: Election judges were appointed for the November 2013 Constitutional Amendment Election; a resolution authorizing the county grant to Meals on Wheels was approved; status quo on dates and times of County Commissioner’s Court meeting was approved; Red River Co-op was approved as provider for oil and gas for Cooke County; status quo on ground maintenance provider for 2013-2014; approval of selection committee to assist in the hiring of a new information technology director; a request from Sheriff Terry Gilbert to move excess funds from the new car budget line 570 to line 107 in order to pay for overtime expenses for the Cooke County sheriff’s office; fees for the 2014 sheriff and constable fees remain the same as per LGC 118-131; the burn ban for Cooke County has been lifted; all actions necessary for maintenance on county facilities.
The Cooke County EMS Station is nearing completion and any change orders for the project were approved.
Items on the agenda that were tabled until the next council meeting were the designated loading and unloading parking areas near the courthouse for deliveries and consideration and possible approval to ratify the county judge’s signature on MMI proposal to repair and replace existing historical windows in the Cooke County Courthouse.
