Balloon Festival

“Annie the Ladybug” rises above the field Saturday at Gainesville Municipal Airport. Piloted by Michael Scott of Oklahoma City, this whimsical hot air balloon was one many which took part in the North Texas Medical Center Foundation’s second annual “The Sky’s the Limit Balloon Spectacular.” The three-day balloon festival featured other family-friendly activities including vendor and information booths, an interactive children’s play zone, displays and festival food. Event director and NTMC Foundation executive director Kristi Rigsby said the ladybug was a hit with all ages, especially children. “I brought in a few more shaped balloons along with expanding the children’s activities,” she said. “I really wanted to offer something for everyone at this event from young children to senior citizens.”
