Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms along with Denton County Sheriff’s Department executed a federal search warrant Thursday morning at this home at 1325 Throckmorton St. The home appeared unoccupied during the operation except for a dog tied up in the yard.

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms removed some items including firearms from a Gainesville home Thursday afternoon after executing a search warrant at 1325 Throckmorton Street.

Brent Gresham, special agent with the ATF, said his agency and Denton County Sheriff’s department officers arrived at around 11:30 a.m. Thursday at 1325 Throckmorton to execute the federal search warrant for narcotics and firearms.

Denton County brought a S.W.A.T. vehicle to the scene.

“Nobody has been arrested,” Gresham said, adding that the operation was the culmination of a joint investigation between the ATF and Denton County Sheriff’s office.

Agents removed various items from the tan frame home and, according to neighbor Guy Dustin, who lives across the street from the house, took at least one firearm.

Agents placed the confiscated items in a cargo area of a large Ford Sport Utility Vehicle.

“They had an old sawed off shot gun and 883 rounds of ammunition,” Dustin said.

Although the home appeared unoccupied early Thursday afternoon, Dustin said the homeowner’s son had been in the house that morning.

A dog was tied up under some trees close to the house, which neighbors said was being renovated.

Denton County Sheriff’s Department public information officer, Tom Reidy said his agency is unable to comment on the case because it is an ongoing federal investigation.

ATF declined to release the name of the property owner.
