The Valley View Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus on Sunday, March 17, at the parking lot of the Valley View High School football stadium at 700 S. Lee St. in Valley View.
Performances lasting 90 minutes will take place at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The one-ring, big top circus has been featured in various national media and most recently on “On the Road with Circus Kids,” a Nickelodeon feature on the Nick News program.
The public is invited to watch the raising of the Big Top between 9:30-10 a.m. then get a free tour to learn about the circus performers. The tour includes a walk around the circus grounds and introduces topics like hygiene, grooming and veterinary care of the circus animals.
This year’s lineup of performers includes Miss Simone and her single trapeze, Miss Paulina’s proud “Big and Little” prancing ponies, The Arlise Troupe on their unicycles, Natalie’s American Eskimo Escapades, Miss Georgia displaying flexibility to the extreme and the Wheel of Destiny and Tight Rope by the Perez family. The performing jungle cats, Soloman, Delilah and Francis, presented by Trey Key, will also be at the circus.
Tickets will be available in advance at Rustic Ranch Decor and More or at Firelight Winery. Advance tickets are $12 or $7 for seniors and children ages 2-12.
Show day tickets will be $15 for adults or $8 for seniors and children. The midway box office opens an hour before the first show.
