An early Sunday morning crash in Valley View turned fatal after a man was struck by another vehicle on I-35, law enforcement says.
Texas Highway Patrol Staff Sgt. Mark Tackett said 52-year-old Timothy Kramer of Celina was traveling north on I-35 near Mile Marker 485 in Valley View when his 2014 Chrysler 300 hit a guardrail.
The impact disabled the vehicle, said Tackett, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman.
Kramer exited his vehicle after the crash and was standing in the roadway when he was struck by a northbound vehicle, according to Tackett. That vehicle was also a Chrysler 300, though it was a 1999 model, he said.
At approximately 3:40 a.m., troopers were called to investigate, Tackett said.
Kramer was pronounced dead at the scene by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Carroll Johnson.
The four occupants of the vehicle that struck Kramer were taken to Medical City of Denton. Their injuries were not life-threatening, Tackett said.
The interstate was shut down for about three hours during the investigation.
