A fire destroyed a Cooke County home Wednesday taking just about everything the family who lived there owned.
Cooke County Fire Marshal Ray Fletcher said no one was home at the time the fire broke out inside the double-wide mobile home on County Road 134.
He said as he understands it, homeowner Gary Chambers returned to the house, discovered the fire and called for assistance.
The home is a total loss, Fletcher said, adding that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Two pets — a pair of birds — perished in the flames.
Gainesville Fire Department along with the Callisburg and Oak Ridge Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the blaze. Cooke County Emergency Medical Services also responded to the incident.
A benefit account has been set up for the Gary and Laura Chambers family. Donations can be made at the First State Bank or at City Credit Union.
