GISD Superintendent Bill Gravitt reported that as of Thursday, enrollment for GISD is at 2,628.

Gravitt said he should know the result of the appeal the last week of September and the result will be released to the public the middle of October.

Gravitt repeated that, “It was the drop-out issue that created our situation.”

“I don’t see how they could not overturn it,” Gravitt added.

Board members voted 6-1 to allow the Cooke County Appraisal District (CCAD) to keep the GISD’s amount of excess funds for reserve funds for emergencies.

Mary Hunter was the dissenting vote.

CCAD Chief Appraiser Doug Smithson addressed the board regarding the excess funds of $57,463 from the 2008 budget.

The GISD amount of the funds is approximately $11,400.

The CCAD would like to put the excess monies in a reserve fund for emergencies.

If not approved by the majority of the entities, it will be credited back to the entities in the fourth quarter billing.
