Several hospital employees hosted a farewell reception for Andy Anderson, who has been administrator and CEO of NTMC for about nine years, prior to a meeting of the NTMC Board of Directors.

Guests at the reception, which was held in the hospital’s board room, dined on cake, punch and other snacks as Anderson made his rounds greeting people. He kept his farewell remarks short.

Anderson said in an interview he plans to stay in the area. He said he is considering returning to family practice, but at this time he is exploring options.

In the directors meeting at 5:30, the board, without going into executive session, named Lucy Krahl as acting administrator.

Krahl is the director of ancillary services for NTMC.

According to Mitzi Lyons, administrative secretary, the board has solicited the services of Larry Krupala, a consultant with the Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals (TORCH) Management Services, Inc., to find an interim CEO.

Anderson serves on the board of TORCH.

Lyons noted that she, too, will be leaving the hospital. She said her last day is Friday, and plans to work for a local graphic design company.

In other business, the board approved the lease purchase of 52 computers and reviewed a presentation given by the hospital’s cardiac respiratory care department.

The board unanimously voted to accept Anderson’s resignation letter.

The meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
