Pets lost in fire on Dixon St.

Five dogs were killed in a house fire Monday, Feb. 4 at 1515 N. Dixon St., according to Gainesville Fire-Rescue spokeswoman Tamara Sieger. The American Red Cross responded to assist the occupants. The fire was investigated and the cause was determined unintentional due to a faulty extension cord in a bedroom, Sieger said. The presence of smoke detectors was undetermined.
