800 block of north Clements Street

The sound of gunshots outside her home startled a woman in the 800 block of north Clements Street around 3:52 Thursday morning. The woman called police to report someone in a vehicle had fired a gun in the direction of her house. When police arrived, officers found a white vehicle parked beside the home. The back window was broken, apparently by a gunshot. There was no sign of a suspect or the suspect’s vehicle. The woman did not get a description of the suspect.

Officers found four .22 caliber shell casings in the street and police are still investigating the incident.

1200 block of east California Street

A white female dressed as an elderly lady attempted to shoplift items from Pass Time Fabrics in the 1200 block of east California Street Thursday afternoon. A store employee told police she was acquainted with the suspect who she believed had shoplifted in the store before. She said she asked the suspect if she could check her purse for stolen items. The suspect refused and attempted to leave the store. The employee then called police and began to struggle with the suspect over the purse. Before police arrived, the suspect left the store, leaving her purse behind. Police recovered two flying geese rulers which the suspect had attempted to shoplift and a $5 bill in the purse. The recovered rulers were valued at $16.73.

700 block of Buck Street

A woman in the 700 block of Buck Street reported a burglary Thursday. The woman, who had been away from her home for a few weeks, told police she had left a relative in charge of her home. The relative told the woman someone had broken in to the home. The burglary occured sometime between April 16 and May 6. Items stolen from the home were a Panasonic VCR, GPX DVD player, Magavox MP3 player, a Dish Network satellite box, and some stereo speakers. The total value of the missing items was set at around $970.

A window of a Ford Mustang was smashed using a concrete block on Friday.

The damage was set at $350.

300 block of County Road 199

The burglary of a vehicle was reported April 26. Items taken from the vehicle were a JVS cd player, a Maglite flashlight, and a man’s gold ring. The total of value of the stolen items was set at $820.

2600 block of East Highway 82

Three hundred dollars in U.S. currency were stolen from a building.

1300 Block of Truelove Street

A rear window of a Ford Escort was reported broken. The damage is estimated at $250.
