The first baby of the new year was in a little bit of a hurry to get here.
Izábella Sarahí Fernandez-Gonzalez was the first newborn of 2019 in Cooke County. She was born at North Texas Medical Center at 8:58 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, the hospital announced in a press release. Her expected due date was today, Saturday, Jan. 5.
She weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.
Her parents are Carla Gonzalez and William Fernandez, both of Gainesville. Izábella is the first child for both parents, according to the hospital.
Delivering physician was Dr. Zaira Jorai-Khan.
North Texas Medical Center showered the family with pink gifts from the NTMC Gift Shop and newborn necessities to take home in honor of the baby’s status as first newborn of the year.
