The principal and staff of Edison Elementary School will host its annual pre-registration for Pre-K and Kindergarten students on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.

Parents of children who will be 4-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2010 may come to see if they qualify for Pre-Kindergarten. Pre-K is a state-funded program and has limited openings based on income or home language. Parents will need to bring a certified birth certificate (hospital certificates not accepted), social security card, immunization records and Proof of Residency for the child, in case they do qualify. Pre-K is on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot reserve a place for students without the 4 requested documents.

Kindergarten is open to all children who will be 5-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2010. Parents will also need to bring a certified birth certificate, social security card, immunization records and Proof of Residency. If the child was born in Texas, certified birth certificates can be purchased at the Cooke County Clerk’s office at 216 W. Pecan Street for $23. Parent must take a valid driver’s license or other valid form of identification. Children will not be allowed to start school without the requested documents.

If parents are unable to attend Tuesday, they may pre-enroll in the school office from 9-11 a.m. and noon to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday if they bring the certified birth certificate, social security card, immunization records and Proof of Residency with them.
