ERA — The Era ISD Board of Trustees met 7 p.m. March 20 in the Era School Library.

According to its board briefs, the following actions were taken.

The board adopted a District Calendar for the 2006-07 school year. The calendar will not become final until two waivers are approved by TEA. One waiver will allow the district to start school early, on Aug. 11. The other waiver will allow the district to participate in the Optional Flexible Year Program (OFYP).

The Board heard reports from campus principals Branda Thomas and Jerry Skelton regarding attendance, passing rates, upcoming events, and the February TAKS testing results.

The board designated June 8 as Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day, in alignment with other Region 11 districts.

The board authorized the superintendent to respond to Charter School Statement of Impact forms that the district is receiving periodically.

IN reports, Thompson reported on: The upcoming Era ISD school board election, the recent certification by the comptroller of local property appraisal values, a recent copier/printer audit done in the district and superintendent training updates.

The board had a first reading of several policies from the Texas Association of School Boards.

In the consent agenda, the board approved minutes of the previous meeting, reviewed district financial statements, approved two budget amendments, and accepted a donation from the Era Athletic Booster Club.
