LINDSAY — Senior Kaylee Murphree had a big night with 21 kills as the Lindsay Lady Knights defeated the Howe Lady Bulldogs 20-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-18 Friday in Lindsay.

Murphree added 5 blocks and 6 digs for the Lady Knights, Kristin Martin had 14 kills, 5 blocks and 9 digs; Brenna Mlinar had 41 assists and 10 digs; Allison Metzler had 9 kills and 4 digs; Taylor Atkins had 4 kills, 11 digs and 2 aces; Jordan Fleitman had 2 kills, 2 blocks and 4 assists; Alyx Ethington had 17 digs; and Jessica Thurman added 2 digs.

The Lady Knights (6-5) will be back home Tuesday to host Whitesboro.

The Lindsay freshmen fell to Howe in two games, 22-25, 15-25.

“Overall I thought the girls played better,” Lindsay freshman coach Don Neu said. “I did see some improvement in our passing, but we must continue to improve our service-receive. I did feel the girls are communicating on the court better.”



Callisburg defeats Tom Bean

CALLISBURG — The Callisburg Lady Cats improved their record to 7-3 with an easy 25-14, 25-16, 25-14 win over Tom Bean Friday in Callisburg.

Karly Rohrbough led the Lady Cats with 7 kills and 4 blocks. Taylor Coleman played great defense, according to coaches. Coleman registered 12 digs. Freshman Kalli Byrom added 7 assists and 3 aces.

Callisburg won the junior varsity match 25-8, 25-16. Amberly Colwell and Kenzi Pringle both played strong in the middle for the Lady Cats, according to coaches. Colwell had 7 kills and 4 blocks. Pringle added 5 kills and 3 blocks.

Callisburg dominated the freshman match, winning 25-2, 25-3. The Lady Cats were almost perfect with their serve, missing only one serve during the match. Ashley Williams picked up 8 assists for the Cats.

The Lady Cats will travel east Tuesday to face Sherman.
