The Lindsay Lady Knights won third place in the Gold bracket at the Collin County Spikefest Saturday.

In the first round, the Lady Knights defeated Detroit 25-27, 25-16, 26-24.

Kristin Martin had 17 kills, 6 blocks and 16 digs; Kaylee Murphree had 17 kills, 2 blocks and 3 digs; Brenna Mlinar had 41 assists, 3 kills and 8 digs; Taylor Atkins had 5 kills and 4 digs; Jordan Fleitman had 2 aces and 8 digs; Allison Metzler had 3 kills and 2 digs; Katie Arendt had 5 digs; and Jessica Thurman had 2 digs.

In the semifinals, Lindsay fell to Commerce 25-22, 16-25, 13-25.

Mlinar had 16 assists, 2 kills and 8 digs; Atkins had 3 aces; Martin had 12 kills, 8 blocks and 4 digs; Murphree had 10 kills, 5 blocks and 6 digs; Fleitman had 2 aces, 2 blocks and 4 digs; Alyx Ethington had 9 digs; and Allison Metzler had 4 digs.

In the third place match, the Lady Knights defeated Melissa 25-20, 25-21.

Murphree had 13 kills, 3 blocks and 6 digs; Martin had 11 kills, 3 blocks and 6 digs; Mlinar had 24 assists, 2 aces and 5 digs; Atkins had 2 kills and 3 digs; Fleitman had 7 digs and 2 assists; Katie Nortman had 4 digs; Ethington had 3 digs; and Metzler had 2 kills.

Lindsay will host Texoma Christian and Paradise Tuesday. Their first match with Texoma Christian will begin at 3 p.m.

The Lindsay junior varsity team went 1-3 over the weekend. On Friday they lost to Commerce 16-25, 8-25. On Saturday they participated in the Howe Tournament.

The Lady Knights JV opened with a 14-25, 10-25 loss to Celina. In the second match, they defeated Farmersville 25-23, 25-23. In the consolation game, they lost to Van Alstyne 17-25, 25-11, 22-25.

“I was very proud of the girls,” Lindsay coach Robin Hess said. “Their play improved so much during the tournament. We dug the ball and served the ball very well.”
