Saint Jo 42
CHICO — The Saint Jo Lady Panthers got the season off to a good start with a 42-33 win over Chico Tuesday.
Saint Jo (1-0) trailed 18-17 at halftime, but used a strong fourth quarter to get the win.
“We didn’t shoot the ball particularly well,” Saint Jo coach Curtis Enis said. “We were 32 percent from two-point land and 16 percent from three-point land and only 57 percent from the free throw line, but I hope that improves as we get more comfortable with the areas we will be shooting from. I thought we played good team defense and rebounded the ball well and I liked our effort in our press. I like the shape of our team is in and I thought our conditioning showed as we were able to keep our tempo the same for four quarters.”
For Saint Jo, Jessica Ramirez had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 steals; Kara Davis added 15 points and 10 steals; Haley Hall had 6 points and 7 rebounds; Kate Weger had 4 points and 10 rebounds; Kyla Reeves pulled down 7 rebounds and Ashley Dennis had 5 boards.
