Lindsay, Valley View, Collinsville, Era and Muenster competed in the Class A area track and field meet at Charles Head Stadium. The top 4 finishers in each event advance to the regional meet. ALVARADO — It was a good Knight, Tuesday afternoon, at the Class A area track and field meet at Charles Head Stadium.

Lindsay’s Knights and Lady Knights dominated both divisions of the meet that sends the top 4 places to the regional meet in Nacogdoches.

In the girls division, the Lady Knights took first with 174 points while Era was second with 103.

Hubbard was third with 88 points and Valley View was fourth with 77.

Perrin-Whitt was fifth with 25, while Collinsville was sixth with 22.

Graford was seventh with 21, Ivanhoe Rayburn and Muenster tied for eighth with 20 points each.

In the girls division, the Lady Knights was second with Era (43 to 40), with the Lady Eagles in third with 33 points.

The Lady Knights were boosted by the return of Chelsea Hermes to the area meet.

Hermes, who missed most of the regular track season with an injury she sustained in basketball, won the high jump (5-2 height) and ran well in several other events.

Era’s Lady Hornets got a big boost from the pole vault results. The Lady Hornets went 1,2, 4 in that evnet. Katie Sutton took first with a vault of 7-6, Leah Doughty was second with a vault of 7-0 and Dana Schumacher was fourth with a vault of 6-6. That added 22 points to the Lady Hornets’ total.

Meanwhile the Eagles, Lady Eagles and both Era teams had solid performance and qualifies many athletes for the regional meet.

The top four finishers in each event advance to the regional meet.
