About 50 miles outside of Dallas, Corsicana is now in running to be on “The Small Business Revolution — Main Street.”

A town in Central Texas is hoping for support from other Texans as it vies for a spot on a national TV series.

The Small Business Revolution – Main Street contest will award one small town season four of an acclaimed television series on HULU, and six businesses will share in marketing revitalization efforts worth $500,000.

Corsicana, located about 50 miles south of Dallas on I-45, is the only Texas city in the competition.

Through national nominations, Corsicana is now in the Top 10 Towns and will be visited this month by the TV crew and marketing experts. What they see and experience here will determine if Corsicana moves into the top five town spots.

“The beauty of the transformation of Beaton Street is in its very 21st Century reinvention as well as a restoration to the very best of its history,” said Nancy Rebal, a Corsicana artist. “Many towns seem to memorialize the past without incorporating new ideas to pull into the future. Corsicana has a most colorful history and retains the core of its downtown structures. This is what has brought the wave of creative souls out of the overgrown city with hopes of reconnecting with a real American town. How healthy!”

The city will know in a few weeks and when it does, there will be one week for a public voting period.

City leaders are asking anyone interested in voting in that weeklong period to text the word “Corsicana’ to 55222. If you do, you will receive contest updates and reminders to vote. Once you are notified that the voting period has begun, you may vote every day one time on each device, per valid email address.

The television crew will be in Corsicana on Jan. 14-15.
